Ep 205//3 Things I Did to Overcome the "Small Pelvis" Diagnosis and Have 3 Redeeming and Faith-filled Homebirths

My OBGYN told me: “your pelvis is too small, you’ll always have to have a C section.”
 
I told her: That isn’t going to be my future birth story.
 
Now, 9 years later, I’ve had 3 blissful homebirths, all WITHOUT a scalpel knife coming anywhere near my pregnant belly.

Today, I have an incredible guest joining me for a second time—someone who has been a true pioneer in the world of birth, especially when it comes to breech birth and challenging the status quo of modern obstetrics.
 
Dr. Stuart Fischbein is an OBGYN with nearly 40 years of experience, specializing in supporting women who choose to birth outside the hospital system. He’s co-host of the Birthing Instincts Podcast with homebirth midwife Blyss, and he’s dedicated his career to helping women reclaim their autonomy in birth. He’s was also here just a couple weekends ago in person, for the Reteach Breech Workshop—which we’ll talk about later in the episode!
 
But first, we’re going to kick things off by talking about the predicament doctors are in that prevents them from learning skills like breech birth, his story on how he was pulled into the Homebirth world and the problem with Stage 1 thinking and why this is the only way the Medical system thinks. Premature Rupture of Membranes is a very common cause of induction which leads down the cascade of interventions. While it’s not uncommon it can be frustrating when it happens 3 births in a row! Today my guest came on the show to share her story of the MAJOR difference in management of PROM from the hospital and then at home with a midwife. 
 
Felicia is a mom of 3 and former corporate engineer turned stay at home mom who has spent the last 15 years walking down a path to a more natural lifestyle.  She shares her lifestyle and holistic living tips on instagram at @Justalittlescrunchy.  After two births that ended with a cascade of interventions, including inductions and epidurals, and a horrible hospital stay at the height or early Covid in April 2020, she was determined to experience an undisturbed birth at home.
