In the US birth is considered a medical event that needs managed. 99% of women deliver in hospitals to prevent fetal or maternal death and yet we rank 10th out of the 10 most similarly wealthy countries.
Birth is not a medical event. Sometimes medical events happen during pregnancy or birth that need attention from a medical professional. But most of the time our bodies know exactly what to do as we were designed to experience this physiological event. There are many physiological events that aren’t managed or watched over by a professional, monitors or interventions.
How do we switch our beliefs from fearful management of a medical event to this is a normal physiological event that I can trust until it proves me wrong and then I will seek help. Tune in to today's episode to find out!

Laura is passionate about being a conscious parent and bringing awareness and connections to all relationships in her life. Her roles include mother, wife, daughter, and therapist. I just loved our conversation. I get vulnerable about some struggles and memories that come up during our interview of my first birth experience.

Ep 28//The Power of "No"
Monday Jun 29, 2020
Monday Jun 29, 2020
"No." This is word is one to get really good at saying during pregnancy. It's a complete sentence and should be respected with out having to explain why you're saying it. This is just apart of you having control over your birth choices. You have the inherent right to say "yes" or "no" to something.
No matter what setting you're choosing to birth in this word should be read to be confidently used. 'No’ means you have boundaries.
Today's episode will hopefully give you the confidence you need to know why you are saying "no" and encourage you to use it when needed.

She struggled with PCOS, Hypothyroidism and Pre-diabetes as a busy mom to 3 girls 23 months apart and as a busy Doctor. I'm pregnant! We are expecting our third baby in January. However, this pregnancy is much different than my others.
I am planning a low-tech pregnancy and a homebirth. I will still be considered an HBAC and this will be my second! I loved birth with my first so I'm super excited to experience it again.
I hope you come along in this journey with me.

Ep 24//Homebirth in Nebraska: The Right to a Midwife
Monday Jun 01, 2020
Monday Jun 01, 2020
You deserve choices. This is NOT just for women who want to birth at home this is for ALL women who believe that limiting options for women is NOT an option!
1% of the population choose to have a homebirth. There is no consistent law or ideas on how midwives should operate on a federal level. Each State has it's own idea and law either for or against who can attend. Today, I'm focusing on my home State of Nebraska. We have been in a fight, especially during this Corona season, for midwives to openly attend the many women looking to have a homebirth and avoid the hospital.
Listen in for some thoughts about homebirth and the direction I hope Nebraska will take.
Thank you Nebraska Birth Choice Advocates and the many other organizations and freedom fighters out there for all you have done and continue to do!

Monday May 25, 2020
Monday May 25, 2020
Karen is a first time mom who is planning to birth at a birth center. As is typical for a first time mom there are nerves and fear of the unknown. "Am I strong enough?" "Will I know when to go to the birth center?" "Will I know how to push?"
These are all very common fears and questions. I had the amazing opportunity to get to speak with Karen, hear her story and help her plan some ways to rewire her brain and reduce some fear of the unknown. Check out the episode now for a quick peak into this session!
